Hi, my name is Louise Rutledge, founder and Principal of Quest Academy of Learning, or simply known as "Quest."
I completed my teaching degree and masters of primary teaching at Otago University, New Zealand and taught at varies primary schools for six years. Then in 1999 my husband and I resided in Brisbane to further our careers where I taught in regional Queensland schools as well as locally in Brisbane. In 2019, Quest was launched and we haven't looked back.When not working I love gardening, hanging out with my husband, two boys and beautiful German Shepherd, Zeeba. Here we are together on the "Goldie."
Teaching has always been my passion and it is with pleasure I welcome you to explore what we can do for your children at Quest. When I first started to develop the idea of opening a tutoring business, I realised many centres did not cater for our younger children (3 and 4 year olds). So naturally I made it top priority to also design and develop a pre-school programme to ensure our tiniest children become part of the "team" here at Quest. Hence our Kindy/Pre-Prep programme has gained a lot of popularity.
Why are we then different?
At Quest we use the Letterland literacy programme which is highly effective in early development of reading and writing. I am proud to say, all our tiniest Quest students are able to read and write prior to entering Prep. We also use the "Boxed Cars" method to teach maths. Again this is a very effective method to help children learn how to add and subtract numbers, tell the time and problem solve beyond their years. If you have an inquisitive child who enjoys learning, then come along and see for yourself how easily we prepare them for school.
Our students love Quest. All academic materials at Quest Academy are carefully crafted, revamped and updated regularly in accordance with the Australian curriculum. We believe this is paramount to an ever changing world. Every week our students engage in a Quest booklet comprising of: spelling, writing, reading comprehension, grammar, general mathematics including problem solving. The materials are taught by a classroom teacher, marked and returned with helpful tips and tricks to improve
